Lesson 37-Serve it up!
During this school year, our students have completed 7 service projects while they were in the Hot Seat. Now, this summer, we are challenging you as a family to reach out and serve others. It doesn't have to take a lot of time or money but it does take being intentional...do it on purpose. Jesus not only taught on service but He lead by example. Be an example to your students and show them what service is and the joy that can be found in doing it!

Part of the Family
The love that God has for us is shown in this week's Bible story of the "Prodigal Son". He not only forgives us of all the things that separate us from Him, but He's waiting to celebrate our return to His family. What an awesome church family we have! God has given us brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage us and help us live a life for Him. Watch here: http://vimeo.com/43035111

Lesson 35: Busting through the Roof
Jesus heals us and makes us whole! In Luke 5:17-26, Jesus made a lame man walk but, more importantly, He forgave him of his sins. It's easy to see the sickness that plagues us on the outside but Jesus know the inside is even more important. Take time this week to share with your students about your salvation; when Jesus made you whole. Then talk about others for which you can pray for their healing or salvation.

Bay Life Kids - Preschool
We ended April with a wonderful lesson on helping people in far away places. After learning about how Jesus’ disciple, Elijah, helps a man from Ethiopia read the bible and learn about Jesus (Acts 8:26-40), we learned how we can help those from Uganda, Africa. We had fun playing games from Uganda (all about snakes!) and seeing the things they played with, wore and ate (yucky queen termites that looked surprisingly like a white jelly bean!)
This months bible verse is 1 John 3:1 “God’s Love for us is Great” and we can see so many ways that he shows us how great His love is!
May 6th we learned how Jesus came to meet Paul, Acts 9:1-20. We experienced being blinded by the light with our flash lights and eye masks and....we secretly made a special Mother’s Day sign with all our precious hands and feet!
May 13th we learned how God protected Paul as he escaped the city, in a basket, with help from his friends. We had an escape route for the puppet with our own basket and rope. Scaling the preschool puppet stage walls was such fun!

Calm Our Fears
We all have to face fears in life. Some fears are easy to handle, other fears are a struggle. What we need to remember is that no matter our fear, God is with us. He can give us peace. He can give us courage. We need to rely on God to face our fears because if He is with us, what could be against us?

Lesson 33-The Power of Prayer
This week in Kids Live, we talked about prayer. When can we pray? Where can we pray? What should we pray about? The answers are any time, any place, and any thing. God wants a relationship with you, a friendship. You can talk to God just like you do your friends. Make your conversations with God a part of your everyday life. He's looking forward to it!

We had a special treat this week as Bay Life missionaries, Mike and Janelle Doud, spoke to our students about life at the Village of Hope in Africa. Our students are currently collecting change to donate to the village and this made what we are doing really hit home for many of our students. Instead of giving for a "thing", we got to meet the people it affects and look into the lives and faces of some of the children in the village. If you would like to know more about The Village of Hope in Uganda you can visit their website www.villageofhopeuganda.com.

EASTER LESSON
This week we had a special presentation. A girl was on trial for her sins, when a stranger stepped in to take her place. She didn't think that her actions were that bad until she understood she really was a sinner. She thought to change her ways and was willing to make better choices but there was nothing she could do to make up for her sins. She was left with this choice: take the punishment herself or allow someone to take her place. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The choice is ours to make. Watch this video with your child and take time this week to talk to your children about their choice.

Bay Life Kids - Preschool
Psalms 9:11, “Sing praises to the Lord”, is our bible verse for the month of April. That is just what we were doing this Sunday in preschool as we trotted around on donkeys and waved palm branches celebrating Palm Sunday with praises and a parade!
(Matthew 21:1-11; Luke 19:28-38)
We continue our lessons this month with the theme, 'Jesus dies and lives again'. Talk to your kids during the week about what they have learned at church and help them to see ways that Jesus shows us He is alive each day. We see new life all around us as the flowers are blooming, the trees and grass are turning a beautiful green and baby frogs are popping out of everywhere! Jesus is there, in a friend’s smile, in a parent’s hug and in a stranger’s helpful gesture. Point out those everyday moments to your child and remind them that all good things are from God and He lives in us today.
Here is a sneak peak at the lessons to come this Easter season:
- Wednesday April 4th and Thursday April 5th , 5pm to 7pm, during “Journey to the Cross” - Preschoolers will be learning about the trials of Jesus by making their own resurrection egg and concocting a salvation trail mix with marshmallows, chocolate chips, and pretzels!
- Sunday April 8th, Easter, Jesus Dies and Lives again (Matthew 26-27; John 18-20:20) - The Stone was rolled away and Mary saw Jesus!
- April 15th: Thomas Sees Jesus (Luke 24:36-43, John 20:19-31) - Jesus visited some of his friends. They were glad to see he was alive, but Thomas did not believe that Jesus was alive ...UNTIL he saw him and touched his hands. Now he believes!
- April 22nd - Jesus Lives Today (Matthew 28:16-20; John 21:1-14; Acts 1:3-11) Jesus tells His friends that He has to go back to heaven, but even though they can’t see Him, He will always be with them in their hearts.
Make sure every day you wake up knowing that Jesus is in your heart and search for Him in others, too. Happy Hunting!

This week, we were in the book of Haggai. As the Israelites returned to Jerusalem, they began rebuilding the temple. However, the busy-ness of daily life soon took their focus away from God's work. In our elementary classes, we learned about Jonah and how disobedience brings trouble! Just take a look at the story of Jonah in the Old Testament. God asked him to go to Ninevah and he went in the opposite direction. His disobedience brought BIG trouble in the form of a fish...a BIG fish!! After three days inside the belly of the fish, Jonah got a second chance to obey God. Don't hope for a second chance when it comes to disobedience. Follow God's commands the first time!

Speaking of BIG fish....have you seen Fred..the Bay Shark? Fred is our Feed The Bay Shark. It's Bay Life Kids' way of helping with Feed The Bay, the local community outreach to help feed families in need. Just bring any non-perishable item into our Student Center lobby and you can feed Fred and watch his belly grow! Every child who donates food will receive an "I Fed Fred!" sticker!

Ba Dum...Ba Dum...Ba Dum.....the shark is coming!!! But it's ok folks...that's Fred....the Feed The Bay shark! He'll appear in the lobby of our Student Center, starting on March 17th, to gobble up groceries for Feed The Bay. Encourage your kids to bring in items to feed to Fred. He's got one, massive appetite and a big ole belly to hold lots of food! Our elementary kids are having a friendly competition to see which grade can feed the most food to Fred. Every child that brings in a donation of non-perishable food will receive a "Fred, The Bay Shark" sticker!

Bay Life Kids - Preschool
Hello Preschool Families!
This past week, we ended our lesson on “Being Kind to Everyone” with an example of helping others from a special dog, a service dog! We can learn a lot about helping and loving others from a dog who spends his whole life helping someone, and has fun in the process! God wants us to help others no matter how young or small we are.
We love having your little blessings each week to teach them about God, but you are the most influential person in their life everyday. We can plant the seeds in their hearts on Sunday, but they need you to help them grow and flourish throughout the week. Talk to your kids during the week about what they have learned at church and help them see practical ways to use the lessons each day.
Here is a cheat sheet for March…
Our bible verse theme for the month of March is Luke 11:28, “Hear the word of God and obey it.” We are learning about how Jesus’ friends show love…serving, sharing and helping others, through these lessons:
- The Lame Man Walks (Acts 3:1-16), Jesus’ friends help a lame man walk.
- Barnabas Shares (Acts 4:32-37), Jesus’ friends helped others by sharing their money, food, clothing, etc.
- Food for the Widows (Acts 6:1-7), Jesus’ friends helped care for those that have no food.

Lesson 26 - Dry Bones
This week, we were in the book of Ezekiel which spoke of a valley of dry bones. There are times in our lives when we might not take the best care of our bodies. Sometimes we don't eat right or exercise and our bodies can become tired or sick. The same thing can happen in our spiritual lives when we forget to read our Bibles or make time to pray. Let God breathe life back into your spiritual life. Make time to spend time with God today!

In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah is called by God to be a messenger of His word. Isaiah's response is, "Here I am. Send me!" As Christians, we are called to share Christ with others every day, but do we answer God's call the same way Isaiah did? Think about that this week as you go about your daily errands. Perhaps it's soccer practice, the grocery store, school, wherever God calls you...be ready and say "Here I am. Send me!"

Here is the second video of our Bay Life Kids "Support Missions" campaign: http://vimeo.com/36486953
Each week in Elementary, students in our "Hot Seat" participate in a service project. This session, we are supporting the Global 5K Cross Country Run & 1K Kids Fun Run. This annual event supports student and adult mission teams as they prepare to take the gospel to the ends of the earth this summer. We hope our students and families will participate in the race on March 10th, and help students serve outside of our community. This is a serve-to-serve situation! As we run, we are enabling others to go into the world and be the hands of God.
We have 20 student volunteers participating in missions trips this summer. Our hope is to send them! On each entry form is a line “The Student that I would like to support is”. We are asking all of our Elementary students to write “Bay Life Kids” in that blank. By doing so, the funds raised will be gathered and equally divided among our student volunteers. It’s a tangible way to say “thank you” for the time and care these students give to our ministry.
Whether you walk, run, or just give a donation, you are helping our students grow in Christ by serving others. Pick up your forms today at the INFOdesk in both buildings. If you have any race questions, please contact Sharon Poulton at spoulton@baylife.org or call 661-3696 x.247.

What’s cool in PRESCHOOL? Kindness!
2 Timothy 2:24 is our bible verse theme for the month, “Be kind to everyone”.
As the new Preschool Coordinator at Bay Life Church , I am so excited to see all of your precious little ones each weekend! We love having your little blessings to teach them about God, but you are the most influential person in their life everyday. We may plant the seeds in their hearts at church, but they need you to help them grow and flourish throughout the week. Talk to your kids during the week about what they have learned at church and help them see practical ways to use the lessons each day.
Here is a cheat sheet for February: We are learning about being kind.
Last week, we learned about the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) that was kind to a stranger in need, as we covered everything in Band Aids.
This week, we learn about the Good Shepherd (Luke 15: 3-7) that went looking for his lost sheep.
Next week, we will learn about the kind father that forgave his prodigal son (Luke 15:11-24).
Our young children can learn about being kind to friends and family from the example Jesus demonstrates in his own teachings and actions. God wants us to be kind to everyone! What a perfect time to show kindness to others. Teach your children that everyday is Valentine’s Day in God’s eyes. We should show love and kindness everyday in many ways….and chocolate is good everyday, too!!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyday!

We only see your child one day a week, but we want to give you opportunities to sit down with your child every week and read God’s word. To help with this, Kids Live Elementary Ministry, will be posting a review of what we covered on Sunday every week.
Take time this week to read through the scriptures and talk about it with your child. Keep our power point we learned in mind as you read.
Power Point: I will stand up for other Christians.
Memory Verse: And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this? Esther 4:11
Scripture: Esther 2:17; 4:14 (Read Esther 2-7 for lesson background.)
This annual event supports student and adult mission teams as they prepare to take the gospel to the ends of the earth this summer. We hope our elementary students and families will participate in the race and help students serve outside of our community. This is a serve-to-serve situation! As we run, we are enabling others to go into the world and be the hands of God.
On each entry form is a line “The Student that I would like to support is”. We are asking all of our elementary student/parent race participants to write "Bay Life Kids” in that blank. By doing so, the funds raised will be gathered and equally divided among our 20 student volunteers who are going on mission trips. It’s a tangible way to say “thank you” for the time and care these students give to our ministry.
Whether you walk, run or just give a donation, you are helping our students grow in Christ by serving others. Pick up your forms today at the INFOdesk in both buildings. See you at the finish line!

Bay Life Kids
Our elementary kids will have a Valentine delivery at Hawthorne Village on Lumsden Rd in Brandon! They made Valentine cards during January’s service project. Now, families can sign up to deliver cards to Hawthorne Village residents. We will meet at this retirement community and start delivery at 2pm on February 12th. We will then join together in their common room.
This is a great opportunity for students to see the benefit of their service and allows our Bay Life families to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Fill out a form at the INFOdesk and return it to the mailbox by the Student Center INFOdesk. For additional info, contact Wendy at wstough@baylife.org or 661-3696 x230.

Bay Life Kids
Finders, keepers....remember that old phrase? We don't want any losers, weepers! We know kids are notorious for losing things so Bay Life Kids has a lost and found box. It's located in our staff conference room in the Student Center. Just ask one of our children's ministry staff members and we'll be happy to help you look for it. We have a lost and found just for moms and dads, too! Check the Worship Center INFOdesk for lost items. You never know what you might find!

Adopt-A-Seed
It's time to return the Adopt-A-Seed tray! If your child took home seeds to raise for Bay Life's community garden, it's time to bring them back in. Just bring them with you on Sunday and drop them off at the table out in front of the Student Center . Seeds didn't sprout? No worries, not all seeds will grow. Just bring your tray back so that we can use it next season. We'll do this in the spring and you can try again. Thank you for helping!
Kids Praise Team

If your child is in Kindergarten thru 4th grade and has a love for singing, come join us. We practice each week on Wednesday nights from 5:30 - 6pm on the stage in the Student Center .

Bay Life Kids
Hi Parents!
Did you know that the elementary kids have their own Kids Praise Team? They perform every Sunday at the beginning of the Kids Live worship service. It's fun, it's upbeat and the kids love it! If your child is in Kindergarten thru 4th grade and has a love for singing, come join us. We practice each week on Wednesday nights from 5:30 - 6pm on the stage in the Student Center.
If singing isn't your child's desire, how about acting? If you have a little "ham" in the house, why not let them exercise their talent at our Kids Drama Clinic? It's an exciting time of improv, sketch comedy and fun acting exercises. We use these drama clinics to build confidence, acting skills, and stage presence and to cast for different presentations. Our next clinic is Sunday, January 15th from 1:30 - 4. No need to sign up...just meet us in the lobby of the Student Center and be prepared to have some fun!
Has your child had questions about salvation? Have they expressed a desire to baptised? Do they want to know more about how to become a Christian? As a parent, how do you know if your child is ready? We have a class for that! It's called Kids First Step. This is a two week class that is designed for kids in 3rd - 5th grade. We cover topics of salvation, what it means to be a Christian, baptism, communion and church membership. This is an excellent way to discover if your child is ready to make a decision for Christ. Our next class is January 15th. If you have questions or want to sign up, visit the Info Desk in either building.
As always, if you ever have any questions about our children's ministry or any of the activities we offer, please don't hesitate to contact us at the church (813.661.3696). Our ministry team would be happy to help you!
