April News

Hi Parents!
Exciting things are happening this month at Bay Life Kids. We'll be learning about Easter and what that means to each of us. Read below to find out what your child will be learning!

What’s happening in preschool? We're glad you asked!

This month’s topic is Growing into a Life of Faith
During the month of April, the children will celebrate Easter and learn about this true story and where it can be found in the Bible. Children will hear stories of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, His death, resurrection, and how He ascended into heaven.

The Key Concepts learned this month are:  Jesus is the King, He is alive, and He is always with us.
Each week the children bring home a color sheet with a synopsis of the day’s lesson and a family activity on the reverse side for you to review at home with your child. This is designed so that we can partner together in carrying out the lesson and the key concept learned.

Here’s a tip for the parents of preschoolers:
Research shows that the years from birth to age five are the most impressionable time of a person's life. It is during these young years that values, beliefs, and behaviors are formed which will often stick with a person for the rest of their life.

It’s Elementary! Here’s what’s new:

Virtue: Humility—putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve.

Memory Verse: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3, NIV

This month in Elementary Ministry, we're focused on Jesus and his demonstration of serving and putting others before himself. This is a difficult idea for kids to really understand because it doesn’t come naturally. A child’s heart feels compassion for others but to give up things they consider “theirs” is hard.  The first few years of life are spent developing a sense of what is “mine” and “yours”.  Now we ask them to forget that idea and be willing to give up the “things” they’ve collected for the benefit of others. We all struggle with this idea, which is why, this month, we turn to the one who demonstrated this consistently in His ministry…Jesus. Take time this month to talk with your student about how they can put others first in their daily lives. Discuss Jesus’ sacrifice, putting us first and giving his life for our sins. Help them to understand, that in our every day walk, it doesn’t have to be one big effort that makes a difference but consistent small things that will change our thinking and put others first.

Easter Drama, April 24th
We're excited to make the Bible come to life this Easter.  During our Kids Live services, we'll tell the story of Simon and his two sons, Alexander and Rufus.  They'll travel to Jerusalem to offer a Passover sacrifice, a lamb.  When they arrive, they'll find a city not rejoicing in the Passover feast, but a city in turmoil as Jesus Christ is arrested and sent to be crucified.  As they watch the crosses being carried to Golgotha, they see Jesus stumbling under the weight that he bears.  Simon is drawn into the story as he is forced to carry Jesus’ cross.  This drama, set to the song “Watch the Lamb”, will draw our students in and show them how Christ’s suffering changed the heart of one man.  Don’t let your child miss this amazing event!

Nursery News
Want a happy and contented baby in the nursery? We do, too! A key to success is consistency. When you bring your child every week to the same service time, your baby is able to adjust from any separation anxiety they may have. Consistency also help your child acclimate to the routine, the classroom, the other children and to get to know and recognize their teachers. It also gives their teachers an opportunity to get to know your child. Our children's ministry staff and volunteers understand the importance of your child being comfortable and happy in our nursery so that you can be comfortable and happy while you attend your adult service. It's our joy and privilege to be able to care for the little ones that God has entrusted to us. Let us know how we can best meet your child's needs.
